| In order to achieve the global concept of conserving and protecting the Ozone Layer, the Sri Lankan Government became a party by signing both Montreal Protocol (MP) and Vienna Conventions on 15th December 1989. By ratifying all amendments. Therefore, London, Copenhagen and Montreal Amendments, Sri Lanka also demonstrated her further commitment for a better environment. Main role and responsibility of the Montreal Protocol Unit now known as National Ozone Unit (NOU) is to take appropriate and necessary action in order to implement Montreal Protocol and its obligations in Sri Lanka. |
